Description
Abbey Terrace consists of a pair of houses built in the late 18th century, located on the west side of Gloucester Road in Tewkesbury. The houses are constructed with Flemish bond brickwork, with No. 2 painted and both featuring tile roofs and brick stacks. They have a double-depth plan and rise to two storeys with an attic, each having one window on the ground floor and one on the first floor.
The ground floor windows are 4-pane sashes set in flat-roofed square bays with moulded cornices, while the first-floor windows are also 4-pane sashes, positioned under splayed rusticated painted voussoirs. The face gable of No. 2 has a replacement 4-pane casement window, and No. 3 has a 2-light plastic replacement.
Both houses have arched doorcases with pilasters and a keystone above a fanlight, leading to 6-panel fielded doors. There is a plain cill band at the first floor, and a string course above it featuring alternating plain and fluted units. A large brick stack is located on the right side, with a cut-back stack behind the ridge on the right. The rear of the houses includes two gabled dormers and additional brick stacks at the eaves. No. 3 retains a cast iron gutter with an ogee profile. The interior has not been inspected.
