Description
Abbey Terrace is a house located at the end of a row, likely originally designed for two separate occupations. It dates from the early to mid 19th century and features Flemish bond brickwork with a tiled roof and brick stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, displaying a 2+1 window arrangement. The windows are plain sashes set in exposed boxes, with an additional sash window to the right of the door, which may have replaced a former door, all featuring good brick voussoirs. There are two large 20th-century dormers with steel casements in the mansard roof, which has a coped parapet. The entrance is off-centre to the left and consists of a 6-panel part-glazed 19th-century door, which is set beneath a blocked fanlight and framed by a pilaster surround with an open pediment. A basement window head is visible to the left, and there is a large external stack on the left side, as well as stacks at the right end and the centre of the back slope of the roof, which is swept down and covered in slate. A small attic light is present on the end gable, and there is a deep wing at the back on the north end. The interior has not been inspected.
