Description
No. 21 East Street is a house in a row, dating from the early 19th century. It has a rendered exterior and a tiled mansard roof. The building stands three storeys high with an attic. The second floor features a raking dormer above two 4-pane sash windows. The first floor has a canted plain sash bay window, while the ground floor displays an 8:16:8-pane sash bow window. To the left of the entrance, there is a 4-panel door on a single stone step, topped by a shallow transom light. The house is finished with a cornice, blocking course, and a coped parapet, with no visible chimney stack from the street. Originally, the house would have had a two-storey bow window, but this was rebuilt in the later 19th century as a canted bay. The second floor sashes previously retained their glazing bars. At the rear, there is a raking dormer with a sash window above central 4-pane sashes in flush boxes at each level. To the right, there is a small slated extension on brick piers. The interior has not been inspected.
