Description
No. 10 Custom House Quay is a warehouse and office building, now used as commercial premises, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It features rendered brick construction and hipped slate roofs. The main section is a three-storey warehouse that runs at right angles to the quay, with a smaller two-storey section to the left of the front, which has one window on the upper floor and three on the lower.
The left-hand section has a cornice at the parapet and a canted oriel window with plate-glass sashes above the ground floor, which was remodeled in the 20th century. The three-window warehouse front has paired brick headers that create a dentil effect below the string course at the parapet. The upper floor includes a 20th-century window in the original opening, a plank door leading to a loading entry, horned four-pane sash windows on the first floor, and a four-pane casement window on the left, positioned above an early 19th-century doorway with a bracketed cornice. There is also a central arched opening that has been blocked by a 20th-century window, and a mid-20th-century window on the right, likely added later.
The interior has not been fully inspected, but it is noted to have internal timber construction.
