Description
No. 13 Custom House Quay is a mid-19th century warehouse located in Weymouth. The building features Flemish bond red brickwork and a wide-span low-pitched slate roof. It has a trapezoidal plan that follows the curve of the harbor, with three storeys and an attic. A high central gable covers a pair of plank hauling doors. On the second floor, there is a central glazed opening, which was formerly a hauling way, flanked by small two-light casements. The first floor has three hauling doors with slight brick segmental heads and flush stone sills. The ground floor features a wide pair of central plank doors flanked by narrow plank doors, all under 8-pane transom lights with concrete lintels. The outer openings are positioned near the party walls, leaving wide areas of plain walling. The building has a saw-tooth brick eaves cornice. At the rear, there are three wide-spaced two-light casements at three levels and a central blocked hauling way. Inside, each floor has two rows of cast-iron columns made by Cosens, Engineers, Weymouth, which support timber beams.
