Description

West End House is a mid-19th century house situated at the end of a row. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with a stone slate roof and ashlar and 20th-century artificial stone stacks. The main rectangular body of the house has a three-storey, three-windowed front facade. It features twelve-pane sash windows on the ground and first floors. The second floor has two two-light casements with glazing bars, flanking a central bull's-eye window. A 19th-century fielded five-panel door is set within a round-headed stone surround with coloured glass fanlight, recessed on the right side. Boot scrapers are set into the door reveals. A single-storey former wash house adjoins the right gable end and contains a sixteen-pane sash window with horns and a timber lintel. A blocked doorway is present to the right, also with a timber lintel. The right gable end features a 20th-century three-light casement with glazing bars and a concrete lintel, with a shuttered pitching window above. Pigeon holes are incorporated into the gable towards the apex. The interior remains uninspected.
