Description
Number 45 is a house located on East Street in Weymouth, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, with some mid-19th century features. The building is rendered and has a slate double mansard roof. It stands three storeys high, with an attic and basement, and features two windows, all of which are plain sashes. Above the three-storey mid-19th century canted oriel, there are flat-roofed dormers, and the oriel itself has a dentil cornice at each level and panelled skirts with glazed tile inserts. To the left of the oriel is a flush four-panel door with a plain fanlight set in a plain arched reveal, accessed by six stone steps with nosings. The basement has a sash window located beneath the oriel. The building has a moulded cornice above the top of the oriel, along with blocking and a parapet, and two chimney stacks. The rear of the building features two 20th-century dormers and a narrow brick wing with a flat roof. The interior has not been inspected. Notably, original spearhead railings are present on each side of the steps and extend across the front of the property. This house forms a group with Nos 43 and 44, and it may have originally been identical to No. 43.
