Description

Number 55 is a house located on Cobourg Road, built around 1820-1825. It is constructed of brick and features a plain parapet. The building has three storeys and a basement, with two bays and a recessed one-storey extension on the right side. The façade includes panelled pilasters and a cornice supported by console brackets above a round-headed doorway, which has a fanlight in the right bay. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are topped with flat, gauged-brick arches, and there is an iron guard on the ground-floor window. A sill band is present on the first floor, along with shallow recessed panels above the second floor. The interior has not been inspected. A notable feature is the cast-iron handrail leading to the steps. The building is part of a group that includes Nos 47-63 (odd).
