Description
Middlebere Farm House is a detached farmhouse dating from the 17th century, possibly originally a long-house. It features rubble stone walls and a thatched roof, with one brick end stack and another backing onto the cross-passage. The building is one storey with an attic and has a three-room and cross-passage plan. The cross-passage and lower room have been rebuilt in brick on a stone base, likely replacing a former byre. There is a ledged door into the passage.
On the ground floor, there are two casement windows with glazing bars and one 20th-century metal window. The attic contains three half-dormers with casements that also have glazing bars. An attached stable range to the south, made of stone, appears to have been reduced in height. To the north, there is a 19th-century attached cottage with plastered brick walls and a slate roof, also one storey with an attic. This cottage has a ledged door, two ground floor casement windows with glazing bars, and two gabled dormers in the attic with similar casements.
Inside, there is a plank and muntin partition between the hall and parlour, some chamfered ceiling beams, and large open fireplaces in both the hall and parlour, which have been partly built up.
