Description
Rollington Farm House, including the attached farm buildings on the east, is a farmhouse with origins in the mid-17th century, which was altered and extended in the 18th century. The house features plastered walls and a slate roof, with one stone stack at the left end and two plastered stacks, one to the left of the door and one at the right end. It is two storeys high and has a brick gabled porch with a panelled part-glazed door. The ground floor has four casement windows with glazing bars, while the first floor has three similar windows. At the rear, there is a projecting brick stair tower topped with a hipped tiled roof. Inside, the main ground floor room boasts a large open fireplace with a flat chamfered stone lintel, and there is a smaller stone fireplace in the end room. The interior features several exposed chamfered ceiling beams and a good 17th-century oak stair in the tower, which has heavy turned balusters and a moulded handrail. There are also some plank and muntin partitions on the first floor. To the right of the main house is an attached outbuilding with plastered walls and a stone slate roof, which has a single-storey flat-roofed extension at the front with 20th-century casements. Adjacent to this is a shelter shed with rubble stone walls and a stone slate roof, supported at the rear by timber posts. Further to the right is another attached barn, which has rubble stone walls and a hipped stone slate roof.
