Description
Morton's Cottage is a 17th-century cottage situated in a terrace on the east side of East Street, Corfe Castle. Originally built with a three-room and cross-passage plan, it is constructed of rubble stone with a stone slate roof and brick end stacks, with one stack near the centre. The cottage has one storey and attics. A ledged door is set beneath a segmental arch. The ground floor features one sash window with glazing bars, alongside three 20th-century casements with diamond lead lights. The attic is lit by three gabled dormers, each containing casements with diamond lead lights. The main ground floor room internally retains a large open fireplace with a timber lintol and a bread oven. Some exposed chamfered ceiling beams are also present. Various stone outbuildings are attached to the rear. A low stone boundary wall with flat coping runs along the front.
