Description

The Corfe Castle Evangelical Congregational Church, along with the boundary railings on its north side, was built in 1835 as an Independent Chapel. The church is constructed of rubble stone with a slate roof, featuring coped gables and apex finials. It has a simple rectangular plan, incorporating a north porch with an ashlar-faced north wall and a coped gabled roof topped with an apex finial. A date plaque is positioned above the door. The side walls contain two tall, round-headed windows with simple ashlar surrounds. The west wall has a triple round-arched window featuring Romanesque-style columns as mullions.

The interior of the church is plain, with a segmental arched plaster ceiling and a semi-circular niche located in the east wall. The furnishings are of late 19th-century date.

Early 19th-century iron boundary railings enclose the churchyard to the north. These railings feature shaped tops, and an ornamental overthrow with a lamp housing marks the gateway, complemented by matching iron gates.
