Description

A pair of semi-detached cottages, Brook Cottage and Bridge Cottage, dates to the early 18th century and was altered in the early 19th century. The cottages are constructed of brick walls with stone slate roofs, and have brick stacks, one at the left end of Brook Cottage and one at the junction of the pair. They are two storeys in height. Brook Cottage (No. 5) has a ledged door. The ground floor has two casement windows; one is under a segmental arch and features glazing bars. The first floor has two casements, one with glazing bars and one with lead lights. A single-storey extension to the left has brick walls on a rubble stone base and a stone slate roof, featuring one window with glazing bars. Bridge Cottage (No. 7) has a large, horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars under a segmental arch on the ground floor. The first floor has two horizontally sliding sashes, both with glazing bars. The right gable end wall of Bridge Cottage exhibits chevron patterning created with burnt headers. A single-storey extension at the right end has a half-hipped tiled roof and contains a ledged door and one casement with glazing bars.
