Description

The railway viaduct for the former Wareham to Swanage Railway, dated 1885, is a notable structure located on Corfe Castle Studland Road. It is built from rock-faced squared rubble and features four round arches supported by square piers. Each pier has shallow buttresses that extend upwards to just below the level of the parapet. The parapet is topped with simple shaped ashlar coping. A cartouche displaying the date in an 18th-century style is affixed to the central pier. This viaduct is included for its local historic interest and landscape value.
