Description
Knitson Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with a rear wing added in the 18th century. It features rubble stone walls and a stone slate roof, with stone stacks on the ridge. The building has a T-shaped plan and includes a 20th-century extension at the west end. It is one storey and has an attic. At the left end, there is a glazed door in what was formerly an outhouse, now part of the house. The ground floor has two casement windows with glazing bars, while the attic contains one hipped dormer with similar casements. The rear wing, also one storey and with an attic, is heavily buttressed. The 20th-century extension has stone walls and a concrete tiled roof. Inside, the original house features a large open fireplace with remnants of a bread oven and a curing chamber. The roof timbers are reputedly smoke-blackened.
