Description
Ailwood Farm House, which includes an attached outbuilding on the left, is a 17th-century house with a barn that has been incorporated into the main structure. The house features rubble stone walls and an asbestos slate roof, with a brick stack located at the right end. It is two storeys high and has part-glazed double doors added in the 20th century. The ground floor includes two stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds and lead lights, while the first floor has two similar windows without hoodmoulds. The former barn on the left has rubble stone walls and a stone slate roof, and is a single storey. The original cart entrance has been infilled to create a new entrance, which features a 20th-century panelled door and sidelights, along with two 20th-century casements with lead lights. The attached outbuilding at the left end, built in matching materials and at a lower level, has a ledged door and one casement with glazing bars. There is a rear extension to the house that has been partially demolished. The property was under repair and alteration at the time of survey in 1985.
