Description
Westwood Farm House, which includes an attached barn on the left and a front boundary wall, is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century. It features coursed rubble stone walls and a stone slate roof, with stone end stacks and one brick stack located to the right of the door. The building has a three-room and cross-passage plan and stands two storeys tall. The entrance consists of a ledged door with a glass panel set in a depressed four-centred arch. On the ground floor, there is one casement window with glazing bars and two stone mullioned windows with lead lights, all situated under stone relieving arches. The first floor contains five stone mullioned windows with lead lights. Inside, the ground floor room at the left end has a large open fireplace with a timber lintel that has been partly built up, and there are some deep chamfered ceiling beams. The attached barn on the left has rubble stone walls, and its roof, originally stone slated, was stripped at the time of the survey in 1985. The front boundary wall is made of dry stone rubble. This property is managed by the National Trust.
