Description
The Sages is a small 18th-century farmhouse with an attached barn, now combined into a single dwelling. The house is built of limewashed rubble stone, while the barn is of plain, random rubble stone, both with slate roofs and gable stacks constructed of rubble. The farmhouse is a two-room, double-depth cottage with a single-story extension to the right, likely a kitchen, and the barn attached to the left, projecting slightly. The front of the house has two windows and a central, broad-plank door, all with replacement casements. The barn features a central stable door with a loading door above, both now filled with modern hardwood panels, and two ventilation slits. The barn has a coped gable. The kitchen extension appears to be a conversion from a granary, featuring an upper door and one window to the right. A steep, straight staircase ascends along the back of the house, close to the outside wall. Although the interior was not inspected during a recent survey, it was previously reported to contain original plank and batten doors and relatively few alterations at the time of listing in 1984; however, changes may have occurred since then.
