Description
Lower Farm House is a detached farmhouse dating from the early 17th century. It features rubble stone walls and a thatched roof that is hipped at the left end and has a coped gable at the right end. The house has one brick stack to the right of the door, along with one plastered stack and one stone end stack. It is one storey with an attic, and there is an extension at the left end, also one storey with an attic. The layout consists of a three-room end cross-passage plan.
The entrance includes a ledged door located under a slate pentice supported by wooden posts. To the left of the door is a two-light stone mullioned window with a hoodmould, while to the right are two four-light stone mullioned windows, also with hoodmoulds. In the attic, there are three three-light stone mullioned windows without hoodmoulds. A date stone on the front wall reads "1 and AXX. 1735," indicating a date of repair or alteration.
In the extension, there is one casement window on the ground floor and one casement with lead lights in the attic. Inside, the hall features deep chamfered intersecting ceiling beams and a large open fireplace with a timber lintel. The parlour includes a chamfered ceiling beam and a moulded four-centred arched stone fireplace.
