Description

Ford House is an early 18th-century house attached to and seemingly partly integrated into the Railway Inn, a 20th-century building. The house has plastered walls with raised quoins, a tiled roof with coped gables, and two brick stacks, one on the south gable and the other near the centre of the building. It follows an L-shaped plan.

The main wing, set at a right angle to the road, has a plastered porch with a gabled roof decorated with some fish-scale tiling. The porch features a pointed arched opening with a fanlight, and the inner door is panelled within a four-centred arch. The ground floor of the main wing contains two-light stone mullioned windows with lead lights. Four similar windows are located on the first floor. A wing projecting at a right angle to the road and parallel to the road has three similar windows on each floor, although most are now blocked. This wing appears to be part of the Station Inn. A rear wing, situated at the left end of the main range and at a lower level, is constructed of rubble stone and has a tiled, half-hipped roof. The interior of Ford House is not accessible.
