Description
Manor Farm House, including the wall enclosing the farmyard, is a farmhouse that likely dates from the mid-17th century and was enlarged in the late 17th or 18th century. It features rubble stone walls, with the front wall partially pebble-dashed and ashlar quoins. The roof is slate, with coped gables and a finial on the original wing. There are three brick stacks: one near the top of one gable, another at the opposite gable, and one at the end of the later wing. The building has a T-shaped plan, with the original range consisting of two storeys and an attic.
In the end gable wall, both the ground and first floors have a 4-light stone mullioned window with a hoodmould, while the attic has a similar but blocked 3-light window. The later range on the right has two storeys, with the ground floor featuring one 4-light and two 2-light stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds, and the first floor having three 3-light windows without hoodmoulds. There is a lean-to addition at the rear of this wing and a small roughcast single-storey addition at the right end, which contains the current entrance.
Internally, the right end ground floor room in the later wing has a 4-centred arched stone fireplace. At the junction of the two wings, there is a 17th-century four-centred arched doorway. In the original range, the north room at the rear has one stop-chamfered ceiling beam. The central dairy features plank and muntin partitions and some early fittings. The south room, which faces the road, has stop-chamfered ceiling beams and a 4-centred arched stone fireplace across the corner.
To the right of the house, a rubble stone wall encloses the farmyard, topped with cock and hen coping. The wall has rough ashlar gatepiers with weathered caps.
