Description
Braggs Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse with a core dating to the 16th century, significantly altered in the 17th and 18th centuries. The house is constructed of coursed rubble-stone walls with slate roofs featuring gable ends. A stone stack is located on the ridge towards the centre left of the building, and a brick stack, rebuilt in the 20th century, is at the right-hand gable. The farmhouse has two storeys and three windows, which are 2-light wooden casements with horizontal glazing-bars and tiled cills, set beneath cambered stone arches. There are two plank doors; one is a 20th-century replacement situated in a central lobby entrance, and another provides access to a dairy at the left-hand end. 20th-century loft doors are visible on the brick gable end and at the rear of the building.
Inside, the ceiling features compartmented ceiling-beams, with moulded beams and wall-plates, dating back to the 16th century. An open fireplace is present in the right-hand room, with rebuilt jambs. The staircase is positioned against the front lobby and has a plank door. A 19th-century brick outshut extends from the rear of the house, covered with a corrugated asbestos roof and including a plank door.
