Description
Wilkswood Farm Cottages are two former farmhouses that date back to the 17th century and were altered in the 19th century. The cottages feature rubble stone walls with some brick dressings and have a hipped slate roof with brick stacks at both ends and in the center. The buildings are two storeys tall.
On the left end, there is a single-storey projecting lean-to that includes a part-glazed door and a casement window with glazing bars. The main range has a panelled door, and the ground floor is fitted with three casement windows with glazing bars. The first floor has five casement windows with glazing bars, which vary in design.
The left gable wall displays evidence of an earlier, steeper roof pitch and has a small blocked early window. A similar window can be found in the end wall of the lean-to. This property is managed by the National Trust and is recorded as a monument in the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England, Dorset Volume II.
