Description

SY 7286-7386 BROADMAYNE MAIN STREET (south side) 11/10 No. 10 (Lindean) 26.1.56 (formerly listed as Sweetholme) GV II

Detached farmhouse. Late C16, with C17 enlargement to south east. Rubblestone walls, projecting staircase embrasure on the front wall, in beside fireplace. Thatch roof, with gable ends and stone gable copings. Brick stacks at gable ends, and at ridge centre, backing on to cross passage. 1½ storeys, 4 windows, 3 light and 2 light wood casements with glazing-bars C18 and C19. 4 eyebrow dormers of 2 lights. Door, left of centre, into through passage, plank-and-muntin studded with strap-hinges, C17. Interior: the present staircase on the back wall, built late C17. (R.C.H.M. Dorset I, p. 33 (9)).
