Description
Little Croft and The Croft are two attached cottages located on the west side of Knighton Tare in Broadmayne. They date from the early 19th century for Little Croft and the 18th century for The Croft. The cottages feature coursed, squared rubble walls, with No. 17 having a roughcast finish. They are topped with thatch roofs that have gable ends. There is a brick stack at the center ridge and a rendered stack at the right gable. Both cottages are two storeys high, with No. 15 having four windows and No. 17 having three.
No. 15 has a symmetrical arrangement of one and two light cast iron casements with glazing bars set in wooden frames, and the ground floor displays cambered brick arches. The door to No. 15 is a plank-and-muntin design, studded and fitted with strap hinges, dating from the 20th century. No. 17 features three windows with two light 19th-century wood casements that also have glazing bars, and a plank door leading to a small porch. Additionally, the north end of No. 17 has a single-storey extension with a hipped thatch roof.
