Description
No. 36 on Fore Street is a mid-19th century shop with living accommodation above. The front is made of stucco on a studwork frame, featuring moulded architraves and hoods supported by consoles on the first floor, along with moulded sills and sill brackets. The building has a rag slate roof that sits behind a plain parapet. To the left, there is a rendered masonry wall that rises higher than the main structure, while the right side has a slate-hung return with a boarded-up gable window. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a single window range. The original windows are hornless sashes with glazing bars, consisting of a 9-pane sash above a 12-pane sash. The ground floor features a late 20th-century transomed double shop front with a splayed central doorway that includes an early 20th-century glazed door and a leaded overlight. The interior of the shop has been altered in the 20th century and was not inspected.
