Description
No. 13 Trefusis Road is a mid-19th century shop with a house in a terrace. It features a stucco front, slate sills, and a scantle slate roof with brick chimneys on the party walls. The building has a double depth plan, with the shop on the left and the drawing room of the house on the right. Originally, there was a passage between the two, but this has now been incorporated into the shop. At the rear, there are service rooms. The building is two storeys high and has a regular three-window front facing the road. It includes four-pane horned sash windows. There is a hood supported by moulded and carved consoles over the right-hand window, with two smaller consoles under each first-floor sill. The original five-light shopfront on the left has a doorway to the right, which features 20th-century top-glazed doors and an original overlight. The doorway is flanked by pilasters with moulded caps, although only the cap remains on the left side of the shopfront. The shop window is complete, showcasing basket arched lights that spring from small capitals, but the fascia has been altered in the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected.
