Description
Flushing Post Office is a post office located at the end of a row, dating from the early 19th century. The building features textured render on its walls and has an L-shaped roof covered with slurried scantle slate, which has a hip on the corner adjoining a taller gable of the adjacent shop. There is a brick chimney with four flues over the rear gable. The layout includes a shop at the front, which originally had a cross passage to the rear on the right but is now incorporated into the shop. There is a reception room behind the shop on the left and a service room behind that. The building is two storeys high and has a one-window east road front with an eight-pane, two-light casement window towards the right. The ground floor features a double shopfront with bowed shop windows that have glazing bars, and a doorway in between with an original fanlight that has a central lozenge pane. There is an additional doorway to the right of the shopfront, all topped with a simple original entablature. The doors are 20th-century glazed replacements. The left-hand window is a replacement and includes a letter box on the left, while the right-hand window is original. The interior has not been inspected.
