Description

This is a mid-19th century shop with a house, forming part of a terrace on Trefusis Road, in Flushing. The exterior is finished with a textured grout over stucco. It has a scantle slate roof and brick chimneys rising from the party walls. The original layout was a double-depth plan, with a front drawing room on the left and a shop to the right, separated by a passage. This passage was later incorporated into the shop in the later 19th century, and the drawing room was altered in the 20th century. Service rooms are located to the rear.

The west-facing road front has a regular two-window arrangement, featuring original 12-pane hornless sash windows. The shop front, originally on the right, has three lights. Two additional windows, of a similar design, were inserted into the former house doorway to the left of the shop front, with the original shop doorway remaining on the right. All are united under a common fascia with a moulded cornice. The fascia is supported by four pilasters with moulded capitals, framing the doorways and shop window. The original entrance has a three-panel door with an overlight. The door and overlight feature basket arched lights with arches springing from small capitals. The interior was not inspected.
