Description
This is a house located at 2 Union Hill in St Columb Major, dating from the early to mid 19th century, with later alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of stone rubble, with the ground floor rendered and lined out, while the first floor is slate-hung and painted. It features a bitumenised slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, and has an axial stack with a brick shaft.
The house has a small two-room layout, with an entrance that is off-centre to the right. Each room is heated by the axial stack, and there is a passage at the right end. The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical two-window front. On the first floor, there are two 4-pane sash windows from the 19th century. The ground floor includes a 20th-century half-glazed door, with a late 19th-century 4-pane sash window on either side, all featuring cambered arches and keystones. To the right, there is a panelled double door leading to the passage, also with a cambered arch and keystone. The interior has not been inspected.
