Description
House. Built around 1850, with few later changes. The house is constructed of brick, painted at ground floor level and rendered at first floor. The right side has slate cladding at the upper level, while the left side features a stone rubble basement, brickwork above, and slate cladding at first floor. The roof is of 2 spans, covered in bitumenized slate with ridge tiles and gable ends. A brick chimney stack is situated at the left gable end. The layout is a double-depth plan; the entrance is on the right side, and the main front room is on the left, heated by a gable end stack. Service rooms are located at the rear.
The front facade is asymmetrical, with three windows across two storeys. All windows are original 19th-century 4-pane sashes with round arches. The first floor has three sashes within moulded surrounds. The ground floor has a round arch to the right, containing a 19th-century panelled door with a 3-pane overlight. Three closely-spaced round-arched sashes are on the left, with a brick string course acting as imposts; this string course continues on the right side. The left side has an external brick chimney stack to the front. The rear range has paired round-arched sashes at ground floor, with a single 4-pane sash on the first floor, all set in rectangular openings. The upper level of the rear range is slate-hung. A lower, two-story service wing is rendered and contains a mix of 20th-century doors and windows at both ground and first floor levels. The interior was not inspected.
