Description
No. 8 Union Hill is a house built in the mid to late 19th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and features a bitumenised slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. There is a gable end stack with a brick shaft on the left and a rear lateral stack with a rendered shaft on the right. The right side of the house is slate-hung.
The building has a double depth plan, with a central entrance and principal rooms located to the front right and left. There is another entrance, possibly leading to a passage, at the front right. The house is designed in a Gothic style and stands two storeys high, with a nearly symmetrical façade featuring a 2:1:2 window arrangement. All windows are 19th-century four-pane sashes with pointed arches in plain raised surrounds.
On the first floor, there are a pair of windows to the left and right, with a smaller, narrower window in the center. The ground floor has a pair of windows on either side and a central gabled timber frame canopy supported by brackets, which covers a 19th-century panelled and glazed door. To the right, there is a panelled door leading to the passage. The right side of the house is blind and slate-hung. The interior has not been inspected.
