Description

This is a late 18th-century to early 19th-century house and shop, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of rendered stone rubble, featuring a slurried slate hipped roof and brick chimney shafts at the rear. It was possibly originally two attached houses, with doorways likely positioned at the outer sides. The windows are arranged in pairs on both upper floors. A double-depth layout includes a rear wing to the left. A 20th-century shop has been inserted across the full depth and width of the ground floor, with a central entrance and a separate doorway to the upper floors on the right side.

The front of the building is slightly bowed to follow the curve of the street, presenting a nearly symmetrical facade with a detailed modillion cornice. The ground floor has a modern plate-glass shop front with mullions, along with a plank door to the right, set beneath a continuous fascia. The first floor has two windows to the right and two to the left, all 16-pane sashes in exposed boxes from the early 19th century, except for one later 19th-century four-pane sash on the left. The second floor features four early 19th-century 12-pane sashes. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
