Description

This is a house located on the west side of Bank Street in St Columb Major, built in the early to mid-19th century with minimal subsequent changes. The exterior is constructed of stone rubble, rendered and lined out at ground floor level, and slate-hung and painted on the first floor. It features an asbestos slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, and brick gable end stacks, one rendered and the other with a brick shaft. The plan is based on a two-room layout, with each room of roughly equal size and a central entrance.

The front of the house is symmetrical, with three windows across two storeys. The first floor has three early 19th-century 16-pane sash windows set in exposed boxes. The ground floor features a 19th-century six-panelled door within a simple recessed porch, and later 19th-century 16-pane sash windows on either side. The right side of the building is roughcast and incorporates an external stack. The rear of the property includes a single-story, slate-hung lean-to with a 20th-century door and two windows. The rear of the main house is also slate-hung, with a 20th-century window at first-floor level to the left. The interior was not inspected.
