Description
No 12 Bank Street is a house dating from around the mid-19th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and has a bitumenised slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The house features a gable end stack to the right with a 20th-century brick chimney. The layout consists of a two-room plan, with a larger room on the right and a smaller room on the left, and the entrance situated between them. There is a rear service wing to the right.
The exterior is two storeys high and nearly symmetrical, with a two-window front. All the windows are 19th-century four-pane sashes with external shutters, except for the ground floor window on the left, which is a plate-glass sash. The entrance is off-centre to the left and consists of a 20th-century panelled and glazed door set in a plain recessed porch. The rear wing is arranged in an L-plan; it includes a two-storey rubble wing with a hipped roof, featuring a 20th-century door and window on the ground floor and a 20th-century window on the first floor. To the left, there is a single-storey lean-to with a 20th-century window. An attached former stable on the right has a cart entrance and door, along with a 12-pane sash window on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
