Description
Grove House is a house dating from the early 19th century, with later additions and alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of stone rubble with brick and stone dressings, featuring granite quoins. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, complete with ridge tiles, and there are brick chimney stacks on the sides. The house has a two-room layout with a central entrance, and each room is heated by a side stack. There is a small one-room addition from the late 19th century at the right end, which is slightly set back.
The exterior is two stories high and has a symmetrical three-window front. The ground floor features a central 20th-century door with an overlight, framed by a 19th-century doorcase with pilasters and a hood supported by consoles. To the right and left are 19th-century four-pane sash windows with cambered brick arches and keystones. On the first floor, there are three early 19th-century 16-pane sash windows, also with brick cambered arches and keystones. The lower two-story addition to the right is slate-hung and has a gable end. It includes a 20th-century greenhouse on the ground floor and a 19th-century four-pane sash window on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
