Farm Buildings And Adjoining Farm Yard Walls 18 Metres North East Of Tranno Farmhouse

The farm buildings and adjoining farmyard walls, located 18 metres northeast of Tranno Farmhouse, date from the early to mid-19th century. They are constructed from Killas rubble with granite quoins, jambstones, and lintels. The principal barn features a hipped slurried slate roof, mostly made of scantle slate, and has a roughly rectangular plan. The farmyard slopes to the south, with the main barn positioned over a shippon on the north side. Single-storey buildings form the east and west sides, connected by a rubble-coped wall on the south side.

The principal barn has a symmetrical south front that includes six ground floor doorways, a central first floor loading doorway, and small windows on either side. The doorways below the loading door are paired, while those below the windows are wide with double doors. The doorways at the extreme left and right are narrow and feature ledged doors. At the left-hand (west) end, there is a loading door accessed by granite steps. The interior has not been inspected. This group of farm buildings is part of a planned ensemble that relates to Tranno Farmhouse and has remained largely unaltered since the 19th century. The setting is in unspoiled open coastal farmland.
