Description
The farm buildings north of Treveneague Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century, consist of shippons, calf pens, and a stable, all featuring storage lofts. They are constructed from granite and elvan rubble with granite dressings, and most have scantle slate roofs, although part has been replaced with corrugated asbestos. The buildings are arranged in a U-shaped plan, with the stable and shippon in the main range and additional shippons and calf pens in wings that extend at right angles on either side of the front. The right-hand wing is slightly later and built of coursed masonry, while the left-hand wing has a single-storey extension added later.
The exterior is two storeys high, with a fairly regular southwest front of the main range flanked by similar but not identical wings. The main range features three bays, with the middle two bays containing a doorway with a window above it on the left and steps leading to a first-floor doorway on the right. The flanking bays have symmetrical fronts with central doorways and windows on both the ground and first floors, although some openings have been altered to doorways. Pigeon holes are located under the eaves. Each wing has a wide central doorway with a segmental arch, narrower doorways on either side, and two first-floor windows. The right-hand wing also includes a first-floor loading doorway. Many of the original ledged doors and 2-light windows with wooden shutters remain. The interior has not been inspected.
