Description

North Treveneague Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted rubble with granite dressings and features a scantle slate roof with brick chimneys at the gable ends. The building has an unusually deep double-depth plan that includes two reception rooms at the front, a butler's pantry next to the left room (likely the dining room), and an entrance hall between the butler's pantry and the right room (probably the parlour). At the rear, there is a stair hall with the main stair and a service stair to the left. To the left of the service stair is a large kitchen, and to the right of the main stair is a large dairy or pantry.

On the left side of the house, there is a mid-19th century lean-to that was formerly a wash house and store, now used as a kitchen. The rear features a later large lean-to porch, and there is a mounting block at the rear right-hand corner. The farmhouse is two storeys high with a nearly symmetrical three-window south-east front that is slightly wider on the left. It has late 19th or 20th century four-pane sash windows and a 20th century door. The original distyle Doric porch has granite columns on square plinths, a frieze with rectangular fielded panels, and consoles with acanthus detail. The rear retains original windows in most openings, including a 24-pane hornless sash for the tall stair window, a 20-pane hornless sash for the ground and first floor on the right, and a two-light casement behind original stanchions for the dairy on the left. A wide roof dormer provides light to the former servants' quarters in the attic. The interior of the farmhouse is virtually unaltered since it was built, retaining original carpentry and joinery, including the stairs, doors, and archways to the stair hall and landing.
