Description
The barns located approximately 15 meters west of Trerose Farmhouse are two linked barns and adjoining buildings, dating from around the mid-19th century. They are constructed from killas rubble with granite dressings and feature slurried scantle slate roofs, with hipped roofs over the barns and gable ends on the single-storey extensions. The barns have an L-shaped plan, consisting of a long main barn and a smaller barn positioned at right angles in front of the right-hand side, along with a pair of single-storey 19th-century extensions on the right and a single-storey range of stables in front of the left-hand side.
The exterior is two storeys high, with the principal range facing southeast. The mid-19th century symmetrical front of the barn has two windows and a central doorway on the right, while the left side features an irregular front of a possibly older barn with pigeon holes under the eaves. The left-hand wall of the mid-19th century barn on the right includes doorways at both the far left and right, a large doorway to the right of the middle with a shuttered window above it, and a large loading doorway on the first floor to the left of the middle. At the rear of the main range, there is a shallow flight of granite steps. The elevations are largely unspoiled, with most openings being original and unaltered, including some old ledged doors, shutters, and windows. The interior has not been inspected.
