Description
These barns, located about 30 meters northeast of Trerew Farmhouse, date from the early to mid-19th century, with some alterations and additions made in the late 19th century. They are constructed from slatestone rubble, featuring stone dressings and quoins, and have a hipped slurried slate roof with ridge tiles.
The barn's layout includes a cart shed with lofts above, and there is a later addition on the right end that forms one bay with a loft over it. Additionally, a single-storey range of cart sheds has been added to the front right.
The exterior is two storeys high, with an asymmetrical front. The cart entrance is located off-centre to the right, featuring plank double doors and a segmental stone arch. Above this entrance is a loading door, also with plank double doors and a flat stone arch. To the left, there are two single doorways with flat stone arches; one of these is partly blocked with a window inserted. Above these doorways is a small loading door. On the right side, there is a similar single doorway with a smaller loading door above it. The bay on the right has a small loading door at loft level. Attached to the front right is a single-storey range of open-fronted sheds, forming an L-plan. The interior has not been inspected.
