Description
Two barns, dating from the early to mid 19th century, are located 15 to 30 metres north of Trethinna Farmhouse. They are constructed of stone rubble with granite quoins and dressings, and feature rag slate roofs with half hipped ends.
The barn on the left has an 'L' shaped plan, with shippons on the ground floor and a threshing floor above, along with a shallow wing at the front right. There is a horse-engine house attached to the rear left. The right-hand barn is positioned at right angles and has an overall rectangular plan, also with shippons on the ground floor and a loft above.
Both barns are two storeys high. The left barn has a series of shippon doors on the ground floor, with granite lintels above that extend to form a continuous string band. On the first floor, there are doors leading to the threshing floor, flanked by square window openings, and a row of pigeon holes below the eaves. The right barn features timber lintels for the ground and first floor openings, and has pigeon holes grouped in threes below the eaves. The interior has not been inspected.
