Description

ALTARNUN TRETHINNA SX 28 SW 4/113 2 barns 15-30 metres to north of - Trethinna Farmhouse

GV II

2 barns. Circa early to mid C19. Stone rubble with granite quoins and dressings. Rag slate roofs with half hipped ends. Plan: The barn on left has an 'L' shaped plan with shippons on the ground floor with threshing floor above and a shallow wing to front right. There is a horse-engine house attached to rear left. The right hand barn stands at right angles and is of overall rectangular plan with shippons on ground floor and loft above. Exterior: Two storeys. Barn to left has a series of shippon doors on the ground floor, the granite lintels above the openings extended to form a continuous string band. On the first floor are the doors to the threshing floor which are flanked by square window openings. Row of pigeon holes below eaves. The right hand barn has timber lintels to the ground and first floor openings and a row of pigeon holes, grouped in threes, below the eaves. Interior :Not inspected.
