Description
The barns and adjoining outhouse immediately north of Tregonebris Farmhouse are from the mid to late 19th century. They are constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and feature partly grouted scantle slate hipped roofs. The buildings have an L-shaped plan consisting of two adjoining barns: a long principal barn and a smaller barn at right angles in front of the left side, along with a small outhouse that may have served as an earth-closet in front of the right side.
The principal barn contains a central threshing floor with opposing first-floor loading and winnowing doorways, which are accessed by stone steps leading to a rear doorway. The smaller barn features a central cartshed and possibly a threshing floor, which can be reached by external stone steps that also lead into the main barn.
The exterior is two storeys high and largely unaltered, although some openings are partly blocked. There are several old glazed windows, some with original shutters, and 20th-century ledged doors. The nearly symmetrical south front has two windows and a central first-floor loading doorway, with ground floor doorways on either side and windows flanking them. The smaller barn's east front has a central wagon doorway that is partly blocked, with doorways on both sides and a first-floor doorway on the right, along with a window towards the left. The interior has not been inspected.
