Description
This is a barn located immediately west of the north end of Trelissick Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century with an extension added around the mid-19th century. The barn is constructed from granite rubble with granite dressings and features brick arches. It has a hipped roof covered with grouted scantle slate. The barn has a layout consisting of a 1:3:1-bay structure, with a central cartshed flanked by stables that have a loft above. An additional bay was added in the mid-19th century to create a porte cochere entrance to the farmyard. To the right of the porte cochere, there is a stable with a doorway and a ventilator window located within the carriageway. At the rear, there is a flight of granite steps and a later lean-to. The exterior is two stories high, with a symmetrical south front featuring a 1:3:1 bay arrangement. The central bays project forward, and the porte cochere is positioned on the right. There are round brick arched doorways leading to the central bays and the porte cochere, while the other openings have shallow arches. The left and right bays of the original barn include ground floor doorways and loading doorways above, with some old ledged doors and window shutters present. The interior has not been inspected.
