Description
The barn immediately west of Trelissick Cottage is a Grade II listed building, likely converted from a former service range of the house. It dates from the 17th century and was remodeled in the 19th century. The structure is built of granite rubble with granite dressings and has a corrugated asbestos roof with gable ends. It has a rectangular plan, likely featuring shippons on the ground floor and fodder storage above. There are steps leading up to the doorway at the west end.
Adjoining the barn is a two-bay piggery that is set back at the far left. This piggery has a loading hatch above and a doorway towards the right with a window above it. To the left of the middle, there is a 17th-century chamfered two-light granite mullioned window with stoolings for the central mullion. There are later window openings on either side of the right-hand doorway. The piggery, set back at the far left, has two doorways. The interior has not been inspected. The current layout of the 19th-century farm buildings may be on the sites of earlier structures at Trelissick, and this barn appears to be the only surviving 17th-century farm building.
