Description

Meadowside Cottage is a pair of cottages dating from the early to mid-19th century, situated on the west side of Hayle Trelissick Road in Hayle. The front of the cottages is constructed of dressed coursed granite with granite dressings, and features brick arches. They have hipped roofs, with a central axial brick stack, and originally had a grouted scantle slate roof to the left and asbestos slate to the right. The cottages share a double-depth plan, with each having one room at the front and one room behind; entrance cross passages are located at either end. The right-hand cottage has been extended in the 20th century on its right side and at the rear. The east front is symmetrical, with four windows, although the right-hand cottage has a 20th-century lean-to porch. Original, unaltered openings include 4-centred arches with projecting granite keystones, and original hornless sash windows with glazing bars and traceried heads. Doorways are positioned at the extreme left and right, with windows above. The doors have been replaced in the 20th century. The interior was not inspected, but may retain original features and joinery.
