Description

The granary and adjoining stables, located immediately north of Trelissick Farmhouse, date from the early 19th century. The granary features slate hanging on studwork on two walls and has a hipped roof made of grouted scantle slate. The stables are constructed from rubble walls with granite dressings, with a half-hipped grouted scantle slate roof on the higher end and corrugated asbestos on the other end. The overall layout is an irregular T-shape. The rectangular granary, added to the rear, has a very thick entrance wall on the west side, which is integrated with the west wall of the farmhouse and predates the later 17th-century remodelling. There are steps leading up to the doorway. The north wall of the granary is the rear wall of the stables. The other walls and floor of the granary are supported on staddle stones with brick shafts. The stables feature two carriage doorways and large loading doorways for the haylofts above.

The exterior is two-storeys high. The north front of the stables has a nearly symmetrical arrangement with two windows on the ground floor, one on the left and one on the right, and no first-floor windows, along with pigeon holes under the eaves. There are wide first-floor loading doorways near the middle of each front, as well as wide carriage doorways at the far left and under the right-hand loading doorway. A small doorway is located at the far right of the taller block, with large windows positioned between the doorways. The old windows have glazing bars, and the first-floor windows are fitted with shutters and top lights. The doors are ledged and braced. The granary has two louvred windows. The interior of the granary retains its original floor and roof structure, but the rest of the interior has not been inspected.
