DIPTFORD SX75NW Barn and piggery 4/213 immediately SW of creber Farmhouse

GV II

Barn converted into a shippon with a piggery attached. Early C19 or earlier and remodelled in circa mid C19. Slate rubble, rendered on the west side. Slate roof with crow-stepped gable ends with slate coping. Corrugated asbestos lean-to roof over piggery. Plan: Long rectangular range, formerly a barn with a wide central doorway converted into a shippon in circa mid C19 when the gable ends were embattled and the piggery was added to the front right. Exterior: The barn doorway at the centre is blocked and a smaller shippon plank door inserted. Similar shippon door to left with ventilation slit between and a loft door above. The ground is at higher level to right and there is a wide doorway to the left in the right hand gable end. The lean- to piggery added to the front right has a series of closely-spaced doorways. Interior: A feeding passage behind the cattle stalls. The roof has scissor-braced nailed soft wood trusses.
