Description
This is a barn located about 15 metres north-west of West Trespearne, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with later additions and a few alterations from the late 19th century. It is constructed from slatestone rubble, featuring brick and granite dressings. The main barn has a half-hipped slate roof with ridge tiles, while the later addition has a corrugated asbestos roof with gable ends.
The barn's layout includes shippons on the ground floor with three entrances and a loft above. To the left, there is a later 19th-century addition used for stabling, also with a loft above. There are lean-to structures at both the left and right ends.
The exterior of the main barn presents a symmetrical two-storey front with three doorways at ground level, each featuring segmental brick arches. Above these, there is a central double loading door with a timber lintel. Flanking this are rows of square pigeon holes, with ventilation slits on either side. A single-storey lean-to is attached to the right side, which is weatherboarded at the front. The stable on the left end has a central plank door with small windows on either side, all topped with granite lintels, and a central loading door on the first floor. The left end of the stable includes a ventilation slit for the loft. The rear of the barn was not visible during the survey. The interior was not inspected.
