Description

A farmhouse, now a house, was likely built in the early to mid-18th century, with alterations and additions dating to the mid-19th century and some later changes. The construction is of slatestone rubble, with a rag slate roof featuring ridge tiles and gable ends. The chimney stacks have a rendered shaft on the left and a 20th-century brick shaft on the right. Sections of the exterior are slate-hung.

The house was originally planned with a double-depth layout. The main entrance is off-centre to the left and leads into a large room to the front right and a smaller room to the front left, each with its own gable-end heating. There are shallow, unheated service rooms at the rear, and a single-story lean-to cart shed extends from the right end, open at the rear.

The two-story front facade is nearly symmetrical with three windows. A porch with a hipped slate roof sits off-centre to the left, featuring a 20th-century half-glazed door with sidelights and an inner half-glazed door. There are two 2-light, 4-pane windows on either side of the porch, both with segmental stone arches. The first floor has three 2-light, 4-pane casement windows, the central one with L hinges. The lean-to at the right end has a straight joint with the main house and includes a loft. The left end of the house is slate-hung. A small 20th-century window is located at ground floor level on the left side, along with a single 4-pane casement window at first floor. The right end of the house has two 4-pane casements in the lean-to. At the rear, the lean-to incorporates a 20th-century wooden gate with a timber lintel. The rear of the house features a 20th-century window on the left, a 2-light casement on the right, and a central 20th-century porch with a hipped roof and an inner half-glazed door. A large, slate-hung dormer window has been added to the rear on the left, with a 2-light, 6-pane casement.

The ground floor front rooms contain 19th-century ceiling beams and a 20th-century fireplace. Other 19th-century features may remain within the house.
